with Academy Fellows Emily Hollyday and Samantha Adams
Tuesday, March 16, 2021
4:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
Registration is closed.
Deadline: March 12.
Air quality research makes for great science. It connects students to the natural world, teaches them the scientific process, and contributes to our knowledge of the local and global environment. In this workshop, two Academy Fellows will share how they access and collect data, and explore ways you can get students involved in this research.
Samantha Adams is a geoscience teacher at Bronx Collaborative High School and a member of the New York Performance Standards Consortium. She is a Math for America Master Teacher, and works closely with the GLOBE Air Quality Student Research Campaign.
Emily Hollyday is an Earth science teacher at West End Secondary School passionate about giving her students opportunities to do the real work of scientists. She has participated in the Columbia University Summer Research Program for Teachers, and this summer she and Samantha will intern at NASA Langley Research Center to do research on air quality.
