This event was so successful the last time we offered it that we’re doing so again. Join us for an ecological tour of Inwood Park’s surprisingly diverse and oft-missed natural phenomena. Learn what fungi tell us about their microenvironments, discover surprising edibles that can be harvested for food or medicine, and understand the role foragers play in preserving plant populations. Teachers of all grades are welcome.
Often consulted for his field expertise regarding fungi, Zaac Chaves teaches environmental conservation to children, conducts surveys of species, and describes himself as a bicyclist forager. Zaac is an impassioned investigator of natural mysteries whose skills are occasionally in the service of Harvard University, the National Parks Service, and the New York Botanical Gardens. He volunteers in several capacities with regional groups of amateur mycologists in the northeastern United States.
